Amazon Web Services Review
With all the hype associated with cloud computing my thoughts are that I must let the world know why Amazon Web Services is nothing more than a bad idea.
All my collegues were buzzing about how great virtualization and Amazon Web Services (AWS) is. I thought I would give it a try. I created a Linux instance and started expirementing. So Far so good. I spent a few days over a month or so learing about AWS. During this time I lost a credit card and of course I cancelled the card. I then realized I needed to replace the card info at AWS because I got a notice of a billing failure.
After awhile I grew confident in the AWS platfrom. I created instances in the UK, North America and Asia. I replicated my services with EBS and I created backups in three demographics. Wow, this is fantastic is all I had to say. What could possibly go wrong? My websites are on three different systems in three different countries and it is backed up. This is fantastic!!! It is pretty much impossible to lose everythig. Or so I thought.
For six months or so Amazon Web Service took about $500 from me and sent me nice emails thanking me for my business. Life was good. Or so I thought. One day nothing was working. None of my instances were available. I logged into AWS with my heart in my shoes and crap in my drawers only to find everything was gone. I called Amazon Web Services while fighting off the urge to throw up. Everything in my account was dumped because I still owed $20!!! All this happened two days after being billed about $600 for services. No notifications were sent to me. Nobody called me. All I ever received was letters of thankyou for my business. The customer service representative said someone would call me back about my incident but it never happened. They just ditched the problem.
Over the last year I've come to points where I pretty much lost the will to live. The only thing that kept me living was the love of my children and knowing that some day I would have an extra $10 to take a swipe at Amazon.
Amazon Web Services ruined my business and nine months later I could not even buy gifts for my three boys at Christmas. My family has been living in squalar and I have lost 10 years from my life. This single web page is my gift to Amazon Web Services.
If anyone trys to sell you on Amazon Web Services I only have one thing to say. RUN!--- RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN!--- DO NOT LOOK BACK OR YOU WILL TURN TO SALT!!!!
